A Mayville man has been charged with petit larceny after allegedly stealing merchandise from a hardware store in the village. State Police in Jamestown responded to Mayville Hardware last Thursday for a report of a theft, and while watching surveillance video, saw a male suspect hide $150 worth of merchandise in his clothes and then leave the store. Troopers found the suspect, 30-year-old Martin Wenzel, a few days later and took him into custody. He was released with an appearance ticket and will appear in Chautauqua Town Court at a later date.
