Reed: Congress Acting to Curb Abuse of Executive Power

Congress has taken action to address concerns by citizens over the use of executive powers by President Obama and his administration. That from local Representative Tom Reed of Corning, who says the issue has been raised at some of his most recent Town Hall meetings. The Republican says this is "not about poltics," because the president won't be in office "forever." Reed says the first is the Enforce the Law Act, and the other is the Faithful Execution of the Law Act...

Reed says the Enforce the Law Act clarifies the legislative branch's standing in court when a question is raised about an action taken by the president or his administration. He says the Faithful Execution of the Law Act deals with such matters as the Justice Department saying it won't prosecute drug offenders under minimum sentencing guidelines...

Reed says the Faithful Execution of the Law Act would also deal with such matters as delaying parts of the Affordable Care Act -- also known as Obamacare. He made his comments during his weekly telephone news conference with Southern Tier Media.
