A State Supreme Court judge has ruled that the SAFE Act does not violate the New York State Constitution or State Civil Rights Law. Acting Supreme Court Justice Thomas McNamara rendered his decision today, saying that a procedural maneuver that helped lead to the passage of the controversial gun law was constitutional. Activist Bob Schulz claimed that Governor Andrew Cuomo did not supply enough justification for issuing a "message of necessity," which allowed lawmakers to immediately vote on the bill after it was introduced in January 2013.
