Street Sweep in Dunkirk Leads to Four Arrests

Four people were arrested Wednesday night during a street sweep conducted by Dunkirk Police, the Chautauqua County Department of Probation, and State Parole. Officers first responded to a home on Franklin Avenue after neighbors reported several young men entering a vacant home. They found 18-year-old Juan Bautista, 18-year-old Alfren Sanchez, and a 15-year-old female inside. A search turned up two small bags of marijuana and a ceramic smoking pipe containing marijuana. All three were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, with the 15-year-old to be petitioned to Family Court. Also, officers went to 11 North Ermine Street to check on 38-year-old Orlando Vasquez, Jr., who was already on parole and suspected of engaging in drug trafficking. The check resulted in the seizure of about $620 in cocaine powder and packaging materials. Vasquez was jailed without bail on two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and a parole violation. And another home check at 112 South Zebra Street led to the arrest of 34-year-old Steven Raynor, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for violation of probation. Raynor was taken into custody after a brief standoff.
