Several fire departments in Cattaraugus County battled a blaze Tuesday afternoon that destroyed the historic train station in Salamanca. Fire officials say the fire was first reported around 2:30 pm. Firefighters were at the scene for several hours and at one point rescued some raccoons that were trapped on the roof of the depot. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
