Dunkirk Police bust two on drug charges after traffic stop

Dunkirk Police have made two arrests after a traffic stop in the 600 block of Main Street Wednesday evening led to the discovery of illegal drugs.  Police officials say a patrol officer stopped the van being operated by 24-year-old Nicholas Bailey after he had allegedly run a stop sign.  During the stop...a passenger in the vehicle, 24-year-old Traiquane Nance, began acting suspiciously and appeared to be trying to conceal a plastic bag.   After a struggle, police seized a quantity of marijuana and cash from Nance.  A search of Bailey and the vehicle resulted in the seizure of cocaine powder with an estimated street value of nearly $500 and additional amounts of cash.  Nance also struggled with officers at Police Headquarters where he allegedly tried to prevent them from seizing additional amounts of crack cocaine and marijuana that he had concealed in his underwear.  Police seized about $200 worth of crack and about $150 in marijuana.  Bailey and Nance are facing numerous charges.  They are being held without bail for arraignment in Dunkirk City Court.
