Two people were arrested in the Town of Ellery late Friday night on drug-related charges. Chautauqua County Sheriff's officers pulled over 27-year-old Dennis Syper of Mayville on Route 430 just before 10:30 PM. While Syper was being interviewed, deputies saw envelopes that contained heroin. A K-9 search of the vehicle confirmed the presence of the drug. Syper and his passenger, 37-year-old Cesar Luis Soto of Jamestown, were charged with 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Syper was additionally charged with DWI-drugs and failure to keep right. Both willl appear in Ellery Town Court at a later date. Officers seized heroin and a large quantity of money during the traffic stop.
