The Chautauqua County League of Women Voters will be holding Meet the Candidates events in both Jamestown and Fredonia this week. While featuring candidates running for Family Court Judge and the State Assembly, the group will have only one of the candidates running for County Sheriff. Minda Rae Amiran of the League says they had invited both candidates to the forums, but Republican Russell Payne decided against appearing at either event.

Amiran says the League believes Payne has been making a number of campaign statements that have been widely reported and they feel that Gerace should have a chance to respond. The League will hold forums in Jamestown Tuesday at 7 pm at the Robert H. Jackson Center and Thursday at 7 pm at Fredonia Village Hall. Both events are open to the public and participants will have the opportunity to question the participants.
