State Police arrested a Jamestown man Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly threatened a trooper with a knife in the Town of Ellery. Police were called to a report of a disabled vehicle in the westbound lanes shortly after 1:30 PM. A passenger in the vehicle, 30-year-old Jonathan Galarza, exited the vehicle, became irate, and displayed the knife, which he took out of his sweatshirt pocket. A trooper was able to disarm Galarza after a brief struggle, then took him into custody. Further investigation revealed that Galarza was in the presence of a person who had an order of protection against him. Galarza was arraigned in Ellery Town Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail on charges of menacing a police officer, 4th-degree criminal possession of a weapon, resisting arrest, and 2nd-degree criminal contempt.
