The National Weather Service has issued a Lake Effect Snow Advisory until 2 pm. A band of lake effect snow is gripping parts of Chautauqua and Cattaraugus counties this hour as the latest arctic blast hits the area. Doppler weather radar shows a band of moderate to heavy lake effect snow producing an inch to an inch and a half per hour. WDOE News has learned that Route 60 is especially treacherous over the higher elevations. Another 3 to 5 inches is possible through this afternoon. Drivers need to slow down and give themselves extra time to reach their destinations.
