In a statement from the PSC, the granting of the certificate is subject to extensive conditions to ensure public safety and to minimize impacts to the environment. National Fuel Gas would construct the 9.5-mile, 16-inch diameter natural gas transmission line in the towns of Dunkirk, Pomfret and Arkwright along with the City of Dunkirk and the Village of Fredonia.

State Senator Cathy Young is calling the PSC's decision "terrific news" and "great progress" for the region. The Olean Republican tells WDOE News that it shows people can make a difference when they unite for a common cause...

Cathy Young: victory for the people

Young adds she is "very enthused" about Thursday's outcome.
