Silver Creek School District officials are investigating an incident where a middle school student wrote a letter that threatened school staff and some students. District Superintendent Daniel Ljiljanich posted a message about the letter on Silver Creek Central's website, indicating that the student in question created a list with the names of students who he wished harmed. The student was not in school on Thursday. School officials have contacted all the parents with a child on the list.

Dear Silver Creek Central School District Families,
I am posting this letter to provide accurate information regarding two separate events that occurred during the past two school days in our District.
The first event involved a middle school student who made a very poor decision. The student in question created a list with the names of students who he wished harmed. The list was discovered during a search at the end of the day on Wednesday, February 25, 2015. The student was not in attendance today, February 26, 2015. Our administrative team continued to investigate the matter during the school day today, and have worked closely with our School Resource Officer and Counseling Services Department. All parents with a child on the list have been contacted. Please know that we have taken this matter very seriously from the minute it was reported to us.
On a completely unrelated note, we entered into a shelter-in-place this morning due to a medical-related situation involving one of our students. A shelter-in-place is when we keep students in their current locations, in many cases, like this one, to protect the privacy of the individual having the medical emergency.
Again, I want to reiterate that there was absolutely no connection between the two events. Please contact the middle school office or me should you have any questions regarding the first incident. You may contact my office should you have any questions about our school safety protocols.
