The Dunkirk Police Department is alerting local residents to a possible phone scam. Police officials say the scam involves calls that show a caller ID of a Michigan phone number. One of the reported numbers is 989-738-5589. Police say the caller tells you that there is a Microsoft virus on your computer and you must supply such information as your name, computer ID, IP address and other personal information. If you get this call, Dunkirk Police say ignore it and hang up.
