Temperatures have been on the upswing in recent days, but there's still a lot of ice on Lake Erie, too much to remove the ice boom. A spokesman for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says there is still about 850 square miles of ice still on eastern Lake Erie. There can't be more than 250 square miles on the lake before crews can begin removing the ice boom.
