Locally dense fog along the lake shore area may cause some challenges for drivers this morning. Meteorologist John Hitchcock of the National Weather Service says the fog, with visibility less than a quarter of a mile at times, is pretty typical for early spring with moist air flowing across the colder lake waters.

The dense fog will impact parts of the I-90 and Route 5 that cross Chautauqua and southern Erie counties into Buffalo. Some dense fog is also possible across the higher terrain.
