The Dunkirk Free Library is spreading the word about a special vote in the Dunkirk School District on a proposal that would change the library to a School District Library. Library Director Jan Dekoff says all district residents can take part in the vote on June 23rd from 12 until 9 pm. Dekoff, a guest on WDOE's Viewpoint program on Thursday, says the change if approved by voters would help sustain the library for future generations.

If the change is approved, the city and town of Dunkirk would no longer fund the library. Dekoff says vote would also establish a $350,000 budget line, which would be separate from the Dunkirk City School District budget. Voting will take place at the library on Central Avenue in Dunkirk.
