With the first day of school coming on Wednesday in the Dunkirk City School District, local police are reminding motorists that they will begin the enforcement of the school speed zones around the city. Most of the school speed zones are 15 mph with the exception of Route 60 near School 3 which is 20 mph. And Police Chief David Ortolano says there is a new school speed zone on Lake Shore Drive East near School 7.

Ortolano says police will be enforcing the speed limits during school hours. He also reminds drivers to keep an eye out for students walking to and from city schools.
