Gas prices in Chautauqua County are down slightly, about a penny a gallon for regular, unleaded this week. That from AAA's weekly Fuel Gauge report, which says the average price for self-serve, regular is now just over $2.55 per gallon, compared to $2.56 last week. At this time last year, the average price was $3.59 a gallon. The Fuel Gauge report says the national average price is now $2.29. According to AAA, overall gas prices have remained relatively stable, with today’s national average price for regular unleaded gasoline holding at $2.29 a gallon for the 12th consecutive day. The national average tends to move lower during the autumn and winter months due to seasonal declines in both driving and gasoline demand. AAA also says pump prices have fallen during the month of October for three years in a row.
