With the holiday shopping season set to begin tomorrow, Governor Cuomo is urging New Yorkers to protect themselves from identity theft and beware of scams. Cuomo says the season is "viewed as a prime opportunity for cyber thieves and scammers to take advantage of unsuspecting shoppers," and is encouraging people to "remain vigilant and exercise caution while shopping this holiday season." The FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center received more than 3,000 reports of identity theft from New Yorkers during the last holiday season.
