Early Morning Fire Heavily Damages a Vacant House in Jamestown

Flames extensively damaged the second floor and roof of a vacant home on Fairmount Avenue in Jamestown early Thursday morning. Jamestown Deputy Fire Chief Chet Harvey says a neighbor to the structure at 196 Fairmount Avenue noticed the flames at about 1:30 AM and alerted firefighters at a nearby fire station. Harvey says one firefighter was treated for minor injuries at WCA Hospital. It took crews about an hour and half to bring the blaze under control. The cause is under investigation.
