Lake effect snow has deposited a few inches of snow across the area overnight and during the morning commute. The National Weather Service reports that 3.7 inches of snow was measured near Fredonia, 2 inches in Dunkirk and 1.4 inches near Jamestown. There were some unofficial reports of nearly five inches in some locations. Whatever the measurement, it was enough snow to slick up area roads, causing some property damage crashes during morning drive. The snow showers should taper off this afternoon.
