Area Congressman Tom Reed, along with two other Western New York Congressmen, are co-sponsoring a bill to extend a Great Lakes Cleanup program. The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative is authorizing $300 million for the cleanup effort of the Great Lakes. This program helps states and local communities clean up toxins, restore habitats for wildlife, fight invasive species and cut back on toxic runoff into the lakes. Representatives Brian Higgins and Chris Collins were also co-sponsors. The legislation has been passed in the House unanimously and will move onto the Senate.
