National Fuel announced Thursday that it has filed a request with New York State's Public Service Commission to increase utility base rates for the first time in more than nine years. The requested increase would take effect in April 2017. If approved, residential customers in New York would see an average increase in their monthly bill by approximately $5.75, assuming normal weather.
