Village officials put brakes on combined police facility

Fredonia village officials have put the brakes on the concept of a combined police facility with the city of Dunkirk. Trustees and Mayor Athanasia Landis discussed the issue during a workshop meeting last night and they determined the costs outweighed the benefits. Following the meeting, Dr. Landis provided a hypothetical cost in terms a matching Local Government Efficiency Grant and long-term bonding associated with the grant which breaks-down to 200-thousand dollars for each municipality...

Fredonia Police Chief Brad Meyers says he understands the concerns of the Mayor and trustees. Mayor Landis says she is not ruling out a new location for the police department stating that she will continue to explore that option.
