Jamestown Fire crews were called out to structure fire on Whitley Avenue that erupted shortly after 4 am this morning. The fire resulted in the closing of a portion of Route 394 for over four hours. Jamestown Battalion Chief Matthew Coon says firefighters responded to the fire at 8 Whitley and found that the vacant, two-story home was fully engulfed in flames. He says crews mounted an exterior attack to bring the fire under control. There were no injuries. The city of Jamestown's Department of Development has been ordered to demolish the building. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
