Federal lawmakers face a midnight deadline to reach an agreement on a spending bill before the federal government is expected to shutdown. Area Congressman Tom Reed, who voted in favor of the measure, says the short-term spending bill included an extension of the Children's Health Insurance Program, known as CHIP, for six years. The bill now goes to a deeply divided Senate. Reed is urging senators on both sides of the aisle to support the bill.
