Deputies arrest Mayville man after report of man passed out in vehicle

A Mayville man is facing drug and weapon-related charges after Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies were called out this morning to a report of a man passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in a parking lot in Hartfield. Deputies say when they reached the scene near Route 430, they found 32-year-old Joshua Bemis awake. During a check of his well-being, Bemis was found to be in possession of an electronic stun gun. A search, conducted by deputies assisted by K9 Drake, found Bemis to be in possession of 10 grams of meth, a digital scale, packaging material, hydrocodone pills and a small amount of marijuana. Bemis has been charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance 3rd, criminal possession of a weapon 4th, criminally using drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th, and unlicensed operator. Bemis was arraigned in Chautauqua Town Court and remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail without bail.
