The man who is arguably the greatest running back in Buffalo Bills history will have his number retired during the upcoming NFL season. The Bills announced Wednesday that Thurman Thomas will have his number 34 retired during the team's primetime home game against the New England Patriots in October. Thomas, a cornerstone of the Bills teams that went to four consecutive Super Bowls, played 12 seasons (1988-1999) with the Bills and is the team's all-time leading rusher (11,938 yards). He led the AFC in rushing three times and led the NFL in total yards from scrimmage for four straight seasons (1989-1992). Thomas was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2007. He will be the third player in franchise history to have his number retired, joining Jim Kelly and Bruce Smith.
