About 2700 National Grid customers were affected by a major power outage that affected much of Fredonia and even a portion of the Dunkirk area. A transformer near the corner of Maple Avenue and Temple Street in Fredonia triggered the outage. Steve Brady is with National Grid.
Brady-What caused outage
Brady says crews were able to get the power back on in about an hour. Fredonia firefighters were called to scene when the transformer caught fire, but the flames were out when they got to the scene.
