There is another group interested in possibly buying the Chautauqua County Home in Dunkirk. That's according to County Executive Greg Edwards who appeared on WDOE's Viewpoint program. He says the county continues to work with Marcus and Millichap in trying to identify potential buyers.
Edwards-Another group is interested in County Home
Edwards presented the County Legislature with a proposal to sell the facility to Altitude Health Services of Illinois earlier this year, but the Legislature fell short of the required 17 votes needed to sell the County Home for about $16.5 million. Edwards admits it has not been easy finding a buyer as more public facilities hit the market in New York.
Edwards-More public owned facilities are going on the market
Edwards says he and County Attorney Steve Abdella are working with the marketing firm to work out an agreement. The Busti Republican says the County Home continues to lose about $7,200 a day under County ownership.
