There are unconfirmed reports of layoffs at Brooks Memorial Hospital as the Lake Erie Regional Health System continues to make changes in the delivery of their services. WDOE News and the Observer have received a number of calls concerning possible layoffs, but the health system is not confirming it. Scott Butler of the Health System stated in an email to WDOE News that they are not ready to make any statements at this time. We also reached out to the union representing hospital workers. In an email to WDOE News, SEIU 1199 Community Coordinator Franchelle Hart said that they had not received a lay-off list. She added that they were told they would know something by the end of May. So far they have not receive any details.
