The work is not over for two area school districts that have seen voters support a proposal to merge the two districts. That's according to Brocton Central School Superintendent John Hertlein who is pleased with the results of a straw vote in centralizing the district with the Westfield Academy and Central School. The results were 468 to 77 in Brocton Central and 508 to 168 in the Westfield School District.

Westfield Superintendent David Davison also thanked voters for taking part in the vote.

Over the next three months, Hertlein says it will be important to make sure that there is honest communications with voters. While the Tuesday's straw vote was not binding, the October vote will count.
