John J. "Jack" Gawronski, 81, formerly of Leming Street, Dunkirk, NY died Sunday (July 27, 2014) at Brooks Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Dunkirk on Sept. 10, 1932, the son of the late Ignatius and Ceceilia (Bernatowicz) Gawronski.
A lifelong Dunkirk resident, Mr. Gawronski was a graduate of Dunkirk High School and Michigan State University with a degree in psychology, with post graduate studies at McGill University in Quebec, Canada.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from 1951-1954.
Surviving are his brothers, Harry Gawronski of Blackstone, Mass., and William (Judy) Gawronski of Palm Coast, Fla.; and his sister, Rita (William) Bremer of Fort Pierce, Fla. Nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Virginia Corbin.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no prior visitation. Flowers gratefully declined. Arrangements by the Newman Funeral Home Inc.
