George E. Sausaman

George Edward Sausaman, 73, of Marshall, MO, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall, MO.

Born on October 19, 1940, in Silver Creek, he was the son of the late Walter Edward and Dorothy (Ward) Sausaman.

He was a graduate of Forestville Central School and attended Fredonia State College for two years. In 1962, he was employed by Kraft Foods Inc. In 1974, he was promoted to plant superintendent and in 1979 to distribution center manager. In 1986, he took a job transfer to the Kraft Food plant in Marshall, MO. In 1994, the Kraft plant sold to Rose Acre Farms where he became plant manager in 1997 until his retirement on January 2, 2005. Prior to his move to Marshall, he was a volunteer fireman for the Fredonia Fire Department for 26 years. Through the chain of command he became 2nd and 1st assistant and then Fire Chief of the department. He was given credit for having the local rescue certified as one ambulance and the cascade system of filled air tanks into rescue No. 71. During that time he was also an EMT 2 paramedic and drove the ambulance part time.

He attended the United Methodist Church and was a volunteer at the Marshall Senior Center. His hobbies included camping, fishing, NASCAR, reading and playing poker.

Survivors include his wife, Ursula (Beilen) Sausaman of Marshall, MO; two children, a daughter, Julie (Sausaman) Mauney of Buford, GA and a son, Christopher Sausaman of Fredonia; two stepsons, Ronald Beilen and Jeffrey Beilen, both of Monroe, GA; three sisters, Lorraine (Sausaman) Roehner and husband Ed of Forestville, Betsy (Sausaman) Lodinsky of Cherry Valley, NY and Bonnie (Sausaman) Ellman and husband Ed of Rochester. Also surviving are three granddaughters; one step-grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Sherry Lynn Sausaman of Fredonia.

A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date at the Forestville Cemetery, Prospect Road, Forestville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, National Center, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231. Local arrangements are by Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, Forestville.
