Dorothy M. Fitzer, 77, formerly of Dunkirk, died Monday August 11, 2014 at UPMC Mercy surrounded by loved ones.
Born August 9, 1937 in Lackawanna, she was the daughter of the late Theodore J. and Helen Karin Murray.
Dorothy graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1955 and attended Fredonia State College. She was a member of the Dunkirk Club, the Jayncees and numerous other community organizations. She also participated in the High Fever Follies. Dorothy was an avid Buffalo Bills fan and most recently worked with her husband at the Richard L. Fitzer Insurance Agency.
Survivors include her children, Theodore R. (Laureen G.) Fitzer of DuBois, PA, Gretchen J. (late Michael J. Burke) Fitzer of Pittsburgh, PA and Margaret M. Fitzer of Dunkirk; and her grandchildren, Joanna K. Fitzer and Julie E. Fitzer of DuBois, PA, and Charles J. Fitzer of Hutchinson, Kansas. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband George C. Fitzer; and brothers John Mark Driscoll, Edward Murray, Daniel (Lorraine) Murray and Jack Murray.
Private services and interment will be handled by the John A. Freyvogel Funeral Home in Pittsburgh. Donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to local libraries.
