Noreen A. Kalfas, 83, of Dunkirk died unexpectedly Monday morning (Aug. 25, 2014) at Buffalo General Hospital.
She was born March 24, 1931 in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Norbert "Joe" and Anna (Turner) Henry.
A Dunkirk area resident for most of her life, Mrs. Kalfas enjoyed knitting, cooking, crocheting and going to lunch. Early on, she also enjoyed making clothes for her family and gardening.
Survivors include three daughters, Ricarda Sue (Richard III) Haase of Cassadaga, Richelle Ann Wickmark of Falconer and Estelle "Star" (Rodney) Harper of Dunkirk; one son, Richard A. Jr. (Lynne) Kalfas of Dunkirk; one brother, Joseph (Karen) Henry of Sugar Grove, Pa.; thirteen grandchildren, Stephanie (Thomas) Haase-Good, Lynne (Matthew) Moeller, Julie (Korydon) Haase-Smith, Timothy (Janice) Wickmark, Thomas (Laura) Wickmark, Kayla (Christopher) Wickmark-Hallett, Jennifer (Darnell) Kalfas-Lockett, Sarah Kalfas, Katie Kalfas, Kendall Kalfas, Christopher Ramos, Alyssa Ramos and Cameron Harper; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. "Dick" Kalfas Sr., who died July 27, 2014; and one sister, Rena Wilcox.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated Friday morning at 10 o'clock in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. There will be no calling hours. Entombment will be in the Holy Spirit Columbarium of St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
