Monica M. "Monie" Westlund, age 83, of Brown Street, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the Beechwood Continuing Care Facility in Getzville, NY surrounded by family. She was born March 27, 1931, the daughter of Frank and Julia (Luine) Bozich. Her mother, Julia (Bozich) Cocca, survives.
Monica, prior to her retirement, was employed by Realty One Real Estate Agency in Hamburg where she worked as an agent and office manager. Monie was the first female President of the Gowanda Country Club.
Survivors, besides her mother, include her husband Richard E. Westlund; and children James (Joan) Smith of Rochester, Wayne (Sandra) Smith of Buffalo, Daniel Smith of Seattle, WA Grandon (Cheryl) Westlund of Noblesville, IN, Cathy (Ron Allison) Westlund of California and Mrs. Mike (Elaine) Herberger of Amherst. Monica is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; sisters Josephine Farley of Gowanda and Mrs. Mike (Diedre) Murray of Gowanda; along with several nieces and nephews. Besides her father, Monica was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Smith.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 18, 2014 at 11 am from the Schindler Funeral Home, 44 Center St., Gowanda (716) 532-4200. No prior visitation.
