James E. Goldberg, 78, of Route 39, Forestville, died Saturday, September 20, 2014 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. He was born in Dunkirk on November 19, 1935, the son of the late Clyde and Clara (Schlade) Goldberg.
Mr. Goldberg graduated from Dunkirk High School, Class of 1953, and from Jamestown Business College as an Insurance Broker. He, at one time, owned the former Goldberg Insurance Agency, where he sold Nationwide Insurance, the Goldberg Fruit Farm in the Town of Sheridan, co-owned with his wife Mary Lou (Robinson) Goldberg of Forestville, whom he married on March 5, 1955 in the Town of Sheridan, the former Forestville Diner, Mary Lou's Diner on Routes 5 & 20 in Hanford Bay and the former Ole Firehouse Restaurant, Forestville, for 26 years.
Mr. Goldberg was a Past President and Social Member of the Sheridan Fire Department and a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Fredonia. He loved watching sports and enjoyed camping and traveling.
Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, June Vincent and Janet Goldberg, both of Forestville and a son, John (Donna) Goldberg, of Fredonia. Also surviving are four granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son James C. Goldberg, who died February 8, 2005.
Friends are welcome to call at the Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main St., Forestville, on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., from where Funeral Services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock, with Rev. Bruce M. Ellis, pastor of the Forestville Wesleyan Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Willowbrook Park Cemetery, Dunkirk.
