Leo Richard Cummings, 81, of 5955 Snug Harbor Road, Mayville, died Wednesday (September 24, 2014) in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Erie, PA. He was born September 21, 1933 in Gowanda, NY, the son of the late Leo and Olga Johnson Cummings.
Leo and his son Scot were partners, in Cummings Plumbing and Heating in Mayville. Prior to that, he had been co-owner of Snug Harbor Marina in the late 1980s, and in his earlier years was a plumber with his father in Gowanda.
Leo was a member of the Jamestown Moose Club and the Marco Polo Club in Jamestown. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved playing cards especially cribbage.
He is survived by his wife Donna Bates Cummings whom he married June 27, 1955 in Gowanda; four sons, Rick (Dulcie) Cummings of Ashville, Jeff Cummings of Jamestown, Scot (Beth) Cummings of Mayville, and Keith (Patti) Cummings of Saylorsburg, PA; six grandchildren, Jeremy Cummings, Katie Samuelson, Lauren Cummings, Allison Cummings, Kathryn Cummings, and Douglas Cummings; three great grandchildren, Lily Cummings, Jordan Cummings, and Mason Samuelson.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in the Magnolia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Chautauqua Fire Department, Box F, Chautauqua, NY 14722 or to the Chautauqua County Humane Society, 2825 Strunk Road, Jamestown, NY 14701.
