Hildagarde Krzal (Dillenburg)

Hildagarde Krzal (Dillenburg), 87, of Sheridan, N.Y., died Sunday morning, September 28, 2014 at her home with her loving family at her side.

She was born March 31, 1927 in Sheridan to the late Philip and Rose (Ball) Dillenburg. She resided her entire 87 years on the family farm on South Roberts Road.

A beautifully simple, kind, and most generous spirit, she deeply loved her family, friends and her farm. She will long be fondly remembered by many for her beautiful vegetables and garden, her homemade jams, jellies and her huge pies.

A harder-working woman would be difficult to find. So many times "our Freddie" would tend to her field from morning to night, then after dark start canning, jamming, or making pies until the wee hours of the morning.

Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Meceslaus "Matt" Krzal, whom she married in Dunkirk, N.Y., on July 2, 1947, and who passed away on May 5, 1977; and her only brother Philip Dillenburg.

Hildagarde is survived by her five children: Richard (Melissa) Krzal, of East Thetford, Vt., Linda Krzal of Fredonia, N.Y., Carol Krzal of West Seneca, N.Y., Ronald (Sharon) Krzal, of Fredonia, N.Y., and Cynthia (David) Atzrott, of West Seneca, N.Y.; four grandchildren: Kelly (Dennis) Malloch, of Balston Lake, N.Y., Karin Krzal, of Wilton, Maine, Ronald Krzal Jr. (Sarah) of West Seneca, N.Y., and Jacqueline Krzal of Fredonia, N.Y.; two great-grandchildren: Adrienne and Michael Malloch. A niece and several nephews also survive.

Flowers gratefully declined. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Krzal's memory may be made to the Sheridan Volunteer Fire Dept., the Lakeshore Humane Society, or the charity of one's choice.

Calling hours Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Larson-Timko Funeral Home, 20 Central Ave., Fredonia, N.Y., where prayers will be offered Wednesday morning at 9:15 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony's Church, (Corner of Cushing and Orchard streets, Fredonia, N.Y.) at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Online condolences may be made at larsontimkofuneralhome.com. Arrangements by David J. Dengler.
