Roberta Jean McDonnell, 69, of Dunkirk died Sunday (Dec. 14, 2014) at the St. Joseph Health Center in Warren, Ohio following a lengthy illness.
She was born on July 8, 1945 in Dunkirk, a twin daughter to Ira P. and Jane L. (Mook) McDonnell.
Jean graduated from Brocton Central School and Jamestown Community College. She previously worked in various roles in the healthcare field throughout her life, and more recently had the pleasure of taking care of her two great nephews.
Jean was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. She enjoyed watching daytime soap operas, especially the "Young and the Restless" and completing crossword puzzles.
Surviving is her daughter, Samantha Jane McDonnell of Dunkirk; twin sister, Elizabeth Jane (Ken Narducci) Keddie of Dunkirk; sisters, Patricia (late Michael) Lemanski of Fredonia, Judith (Rodney) Fisher of Portage, Ind., and Ella (late William) Gaffney of Brocton; brothers, Thomas (Charlotte) McDonnell of Brocton and Ira McDonnell Jr., of Dunkirk. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins also survive.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by a nephew, Joseph Lemanski.
Friends and family may call at the McGraw-Kowal Funeral Home on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m., at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church at 10 a.m.
