Henry I. Graminski, 89, of Fredonia, died peacefully in his sleep Tuesday (Dec. 16, 2014) at St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., after a brief illness.
He was born July 12, 1925 in Dunkirk, a son of the late Andrew Graminski and Martha Graminski. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Anne Graminski Basist; and a sister, Gertrude Kupiec.
Henry was a pressman for Great Lakes Color Printing for 30 years and a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He received an honorable discharge.
He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Fredonia, the Kosciuszko Polish Home (of which his grandfather was a founder), the Falcon Club, BPOE Elks Club of Dunkirk and American Legion Post 62.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Adele; his son, Gary J. Graminski, an attorney in Pittsburgh, Pa.; three granddaughters, Mary Michelle Graminski of Upper St. Clair, Pa., Courtney Hope Basist of Paris, France, and Lauren Paige Basist of Connecticut; one brother, Edmund Graminski, Ph.D., of Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Marcy Kupiec of Jamestown and Christine Snyder of Buffalo.
A blessing service was held in Upper St. Clair, Pa., for the immediate family on Friday, prior to having Mr. Graminski returned to Fredonia for burial.
Prior to internment, a graveside service will be held Tuesday, December 23 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Cemetery with the Rev. Charles J. Zadora officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the Dunkirk Joint Veterans Council - Sandra L. Tapasto, Chaplain.
