Howard Eugene DuChaine, age 86, of Westfield, died Friday, December 19, 2014 at Olean General Hospital in Olean, NY. "Gene," as his family knew him, was born on July 11, 1928 in Westfield, NY, the son of the late Howard L. and Lela (Mays) DuChaine.
A Westfield resident for mostly all of his life, Howard had been employed at the Welch Food Plant in Westfield, NY, as a maintenance mechanic for many years, prior to retiring. He enjoyed cars, trucks and racing, as well as collecting Match Box cars. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting for both big and small game, as well as fishing.
Gene had been a member of the John W. Rogers Post 327 Sons of the American Legion in Westfield. He is survived by several cousins. He married Marion N. Chandler on August 12, 1965 in Lakewood, NY; she preceded him in death on October 29, 1991.
Friends may call on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Mason Funeral Home, 37 Clinton St., Westfield, NY, from 1 p.m. until the time of Funeral Services there at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Blackburn officiating. Private burial will be in Westfield Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Northern Chautauqua Canine Rescue, 7540 N. Gale St., Westfield, NY 14787.
