Gerald A. "Joe" Brisley of Little Valley, NY, passed away on Jan. 19, 2015 surrounded by his family after a short illness.
He was born on Aug. 17, 1943 in Salamanca, NY, son of the late William H. and Evelyn E. (Palmer) Brisley.
Gerald attended Little Valley Central School and was a lifelong resident of the Little Valley area. Joe served in the United States Army from Jan. 30, 1963 to Jan. 21, 1966 and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the American Legion Post 531.
After retiring in 2004, Joe relished spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing golf, along with watching golf, NASCAR, baseball and football on TV. He faithfully supported his favorite sports teams, the Buffalo Bills and the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers.
He is survived by two sons, Gerald A. (Wendy) Brisley II of Red Hook, NY, and their children, Gerald A. Brisley III (Trey) Elisabeth Brisley and Alexis Brisley; Scott (Lisa) Brisley of Brocton, NY, and their daughters, Makayla Brisley and Ashley Baker (fiance Jim Karalus) and two great grandchildren, Nataleigh and Wyatt.
He is also survived by five sisters, Geraldine (George) Zeafla, Marian (Frank) Cross, Doris (Bill) Dewey, Bonnie (Gary) Frank and Betty Burdic (Bill Pack); six brothers, Robert (Cecelia) Brisley, Charles Brisley, Merle (Ida) Brisley, Kenneth (Maria) Brisley, Terry (Virginia) Brisley and James Brisley, as well as many nephews and nieces and Colby Ervay, who was a very close family friend.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, William Brisley (Frieda).
Family and friends are asked to join the family in celebrating Joe's life on Saturday, February 7 at 1:00 p.m. at the VFW in Little Valley, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made to the VA Hospital, Buffalo, NY Hospice Unit (Willow Lodge), the American Legion, and/or VFW Little Valley, NY.
