Robert W. "Bob" Torrey Sr., 63, of Dunkirk passed away Thursday evening (April 16, 2015) at Gowanda Rehabilitation & Skilled Nursing Center in Gowanda, NY.
Born January 19, 1952 in Dunkirk, the son of the late Donald and Nancy (Tyrrell) Torrey.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1978-1990. Aside from his military career, he had lived the majority of his life in NY and PA. His last job in NY was with WCA Services, Jamestown and was a drug and alcohol counselor. He was also a volunteer fire fighter and EMT for over 10 years in Brocton, NY.
In 2006, he moved to Texas with his wife, Teresa, and his son Robert Torrey Jr. He was working at Brazoria I.D.S. and Bowl Texas Bowling Alley. After his wife, the late Teresa Torrey, passed away, Bob moved back to NY in 2012, as his health was declining. He lived in St. Vincent's Home, Dunkirk, NY.
In earlier years, he and his family enjoyed going to the Chautauqua County Fair Demolition Derby. While in St. Vincent's he enjoyed playing online games with many of his friends, in which he became very close to, watching Hell's Kitchen and NASCAR Racing. He is going to be missed by many.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Tammy Torrey of Brocton, and son, Robert Torrey Jr. of Texas; six grandchildren, Philip, Isaac, Jared, Amber, Ashton and Allen; two brothers, Donald (Sandy) Torrey Jr., of Orchard Park, and David (Mailene) Torrey, of Winder, GA, two sisters, Ruth (Ronald) Paden of Dunkirk, and Diane Torrey of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, and his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, John Torrey; and brother, Roger Torrey.
There will be no calling hours. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
