William B. Gaylord, age 83, of Buffalo Street passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Bertrand Chaffee Hospital in Springville.
William was born in Jamestown, NY, October 28, 1931, the son of Harlow Burr "HB" and Isadora (Brown) Gaylord.
Bill married the former Kathleen "Kay" Hall in Niagara Falls, NY, in 1963. Kay passed away December 1, 1977.
An over-the-road truck driver, William drove for Interstate Trucking, based out of Milton, Pa. He was a member of Teamsters Local 764 and he drove truck for nearly 25 years before retiring in 1982. Prior to trucking, Bill worked at the former Gowanda Psychiatric Center. A staunch Democrat, Bill enjoyed history, whether it was current events or from times past. He also had a strong faith and lived his life with morals and standards that reflected his beliefs.
Survivors include a daughter Darlene (Dominic) Capozzi of Gowanda, stepchildren Diane (Mike Capozzi) Wilcox of Gowanda, Mark Wilcox of Gowanda and David (Jeanette) Fancher of Williamsville, NY, grandchildren Nicole and Vincent Capozzi, and Brian (Kari) Wilcox, great-grandchildren Michael and Brianna Wilcox, Dylan and Katelyn Main, along with Taylor and Devin Austin. William is also survived by a brother James Gaylord of South Dayton. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Besides his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by a brother Richard Gaylord.
A service will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to any local SPCA or Animal Shelter organization of one's choice. Arrangements are by the Schindler Funeral Home, 44 Center St., Gowanda, NY (716) 532-4200.
