Loretta P. Maslach, of Dunkirk, NY, passed away peacefully in her home on July 22, 2015. She was born in Dunkirk on March 21, 1926, the daughter of the late Thomas and Veronica Phelka.
Mrs. Maslach worked at The Van Raalte Company in Dunkirk where she met her husband, Michael J. Maslach, who she married on May 3, 1947. Loretta loved traveling with her husband and son and enjoyed living in Puerto Rico, Saratoga Springs, NY and Miami Springs, FL.
She especially enjoyed casino trips, loved to garden, sew, cooking and baking.
She lived her life to the fullest, caring deeply for family and friends alike.
She was a former member of St. Hedwig's Church, now Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish and the Dunkirk Senior Center.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; her son, Frank of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Mary Zacharzewski of Dunkirk and Blanche Green of Buffalo; and her brother, Frank Phelka of Florida. Nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph (Lena), Stephen (Wanda) Stanley (Lena) and Harry (Elaine); and sister, Angeline (Richard) Mackowiak.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 19 at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Hedwig, followed by interment at St. Hedwig's Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Kosciuszko Club for friends and family.
