Robert J. "Bob" Czarnecki, age 66, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born in Dunkirk on January 10, 1949, the son of the late Edmund and Anna (Wozniak) Czarnecki.
He was educated at Cardinal Mindszenty High School and Bryant and Stratton Institute. Bob was employed at Dean Electric and later as a security guard for the Pinkerton Agency. Most recently, he worked at ITCT Customer Service in Buffalo where he worked as a marketing survey consultant.
In his younger days, Bob enjoyed playing classical guitar and also gave lessons at the former Costello Music Store in Dunkirk. He also played guitar at many local weddings. He was a communicant at the former St. Hyacinth's Church, now Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish, where he served as an altar boy and lector.
A lifelong resident of Dunkirk, he suffered for many years from debilitating arthritis. He spent his last years at the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, where he served as an active member of the Resident's Council and the Black Ties Society.
He is survived by his sisters, Diane Czarnecki of Dunkirk and Marie Czarnecki of Utica, NY, an uncle and several cousins.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for the excellent and loving care they provided Robert.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held Saturday, August 1 at 11 a.m. in Blessed Mary Angela R.C. Parish - St. Hyacinth's Worship Site. Private interment will be in St. Hyacinth's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, July 31 from 4-7 p.m. at the Newman Funeral Home Inc.
