Edward J. Griffith, Jr., 78, of Berry Road, Fredonia, NY died Sunday evening, August 23, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo with his family by his side. He was born in Silver Creek on October 12, 1937, the son of the late Edward Griffith, Sr. and Mary Christopher Suski.
A lifelong resident of this area, he attended Dunkirk Industrial High School. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a working supervisor for the Village of Fredonia for 43 years. He was a member of the First Ward Falcons Club, Dom Polski, and the Moniuszko Club. An avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, he enjoyed NASCAR racing and going to the casino.
Surviving are his wife, JoAnn (Battaglia) Griffith, who he married on August 29, 1959; a daughter, Mrs. Lisa Botticello of Dunkirk; a brother, Richard Griffith of Dunkirk; a grandson, Derek (Melissa) Griffith and a granddaughter, Rene (Chad) Griffith; and two great-grandsons: Dominic Joseph Griffith and Ryan Joseph Issac Carreras. Also surviving are brother-in-law, Anthony and Sally Battaglia, and sister-in-law, Kathleen Fadale, both of Fredonia, along with several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph Griffith, who passed away on June 3, 2006, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Suski.
There will be no prior visitation. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by the Newman Funeral Home, Inc.
