Ricky G. Johnson, Sr., age 62, of Brown St., Collins passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Buffalo General Hospital in Buffalo, NY, following a short illness.
Ricky was born in Gowanda on April 16, 1953, the son of Lester and Helen (Phillips) Johnson. A mechanic, Ricky was the head mechanic for the Gowanda Country Club. Prior to working for GCC, Ricky worked at the Eden Valley Country Club.
Survivors include two sons, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Johnson of Arcade and Ricky (Lisa) Johnson, Jr. of Eden; two daughters, April (Paul) Hooftallen of Delevan and Jessica (Kenny) Mercado of Collins; and grandchildren, Walker, Dylon, Paije, Trevor, Mackenzie Leigh, Leah, Aurora Rose, Nicole and Willow. Ricky is further survived by a brother, David (Lois) Johnson of Collins; his companion of more than 10 years, Maria Lalley; and his former wife and mother of his children, Marilyn Johnson of Springville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Besides his parents, Ricky was preceded in death by a brother, Robert; a baby brother, William; and a sister, Patricia Gilbert.
Friends may call at the Schindler Funeral Home, 44 Center St., Gowanda (532-4200) from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 2, where funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Sue Hodges will officiate. Interment to follow in the Collins Center Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a local charity of one's choice.
